Dear Fairview Alliance Church and friends,
I like to encourage you to take some time to pause and reflect on the topic of prayer. Kindly find below some suggested guidelines about how to pray, fast and use the prayer cards.
I want you to know that you are often covered in prayer and though we may not always know what is going on in your life. God does, and through our prayer for you, He is released to move on your behalf.
Perhaps you have noticed how difficult it is to remember to pray, and even when you do remember, it is then difficult to keep it up consistently. Every ministry, for this week of prayer, is encouraged to be part of our prayer meetings. Why? Because we have access to the God of heaven... and because for all our activity, without Him there will be no power to either save lost people or sanctify saved people. Therefore, ask God to give you a vision for this week of prayer and fasting. Pray about your personal prayer life and our corporate prayer life as a church family... they are connected.
We all have something that we can pray about. Prayer reminds us that God is in control of our lives. It forces us to release our care of certain situations into God’s hands. Prayer keeps us connected to the heart of God. So, if God feels distant, there is no greater antidote than prayer. You don’t need to pray fancy prayers, just talk with God. Share your heart, and listen for his voice, nudge, or truth to impact you. He loves you and wants to hear from you as you pray!
So, plan ahead in your agenda and block out to come to pray with us.
Come along... as we stop and get on our knees in prayer, asking God to open the flood gates of Heaven and bless us. Who knows what 2020 will hold. While we pray and fast may His power be displayed in our weakness!
Blessing in Jesus,
Pastor Mario
PRAYER GUIDE
Worship and praise God in Christ for who He is and what He has faithfully done for us.
Confess to the Lord the ways in which we have fallen short in living in unity as the body of Christ.
Give Thanks. Give thanks for God’s provisions and for the way He has built up and established His Church here at Fairview Alliance Church.
Look Ahead. Pray that we would follow the leading of the Holy Spirit for the cause of Jesus Christ in our church, our community, and around the world.
Strength. Pray that God would raise up more leaders to equip, encourage, and strengthen our church family.
Provision. Pray that God would provide the resources for our church to accomplish all that He desires to do through us in the coming year.
SPIRITUAL FASTING GUIDE
The purpose of the fast is not to lose weight! The goal of your fast is to draw near to God.
Fasting can mean skipping one or two meals, not eating at all between meals, not eating for a day or even three days or more.
Consider fasting other things than food. Ponder carefully in abstaining (for a period of time) from something that could be an obstacle between you and God. Examples: Social Media, Games, TV, Hobbies, etc.
Breaking the fast
If you haven't eaten for a while (more than a day) then be careful not to eat too much to begin with, as this can be a shock to your system.
Please consider that it may not be appropriate or medically advisable to fast food.
PRAYER REQUEST CARDS
These are available in the foyer at church. Feel free to fill one in and return to the red box. Or why not give some out to friends, family, neighbours or colleagues and ask them if there is anything we can be praying for them.
